Make your reservations early. Seating is limited.

Presenter:
Joe Monahan
Joe Monahan is a veteran observer and participant in New Mexico politics. He began his career in the early 70's at the University of New Mexico where he wrote for the NM Daily Lobo and was public affairs director for KUNM-FM radio. Later, he served as news director at several ABQ area radio stations.

Joe served as communications director for Congressman Manuel Lujan in Washington, where he dealt extensively with national issues and media.

In the mid-80's he served as chief assignment editor at KRQE-TV where he was awarded the Spot News Award from the Associated Press.

Joe began his own public affairs firm and has consulted a wide variety of political candidates and businesses, including ABQ Mayor Martin Chavez and former NM Governor Dave Cargo.

Five years ago he began what has become New Mexico's most widely read and influential political blog—joemonahan.com. Joe's coverage of the state political scene has been recognized by the NM Business Weekly, which twice named him to its list of state power-brokers. His blog is quoted in the national press, including the Los Angles Times, the New York Times and Congressional Quarterly.

The blog is mix of news, analysis and entertainment, and is one of the first to adopt a successful business model supported by paid advertising. Joe, a lifelong registered independent, continues to consult public affairs clients, but none in the political world.

During this historic election year he has focused on the three open US House seats, along with an open US Senate seat.

Besides his blog, he is providing frequent analysis of the campaign for KOB-TV and KRQE TV.

Come November, Joe will anchor and produce Election Night coverage for public radio station KANW-FM, the Albuquerque public schools station. He is marking his 20th anniversary of such coverage which the Albuquerque Tribune called "the best in the state."
